I had read a CalSky prediction for a flare, and noted the time and place, but had no intention of viewing it, since I am saving myself for some big events tomorrow night.. But, I was forced by Wifey to walk the dogs, and I happened to look up right at Maximum flare time at 10:05 PDT. It was just as predicted, but brighter at ~-4 and very Blue and White.. It was fantastic and I immediately kicked myself for not videotaping it.. It is just freakish how I happened to be there and how I happened to look up right at it.. Of course I always look up. but still..
