I almost looked at a point that would have missed tonights flare. All the previous events occurred in the west or north of east-west. This was another northbound pass, max el 49 degrees east of zenith. Soon after spotting it south of Spica, I noticed that it became unusually bright. Then I realized that it was flaring much sooner than expected. No other flare noted. Flare was at 03:04:12 (+/- 2 secs) UT on 27 April 2004. AZ/El 143/27.
