    Not at all useless - since the Sun subtends 0.5 degrees, and no reflector in
    space is perfect, an accuracy better than one degree is needed only if
    magnitude, range and surface properties are also known.
    
    Your obs could form a circle with mine, but it does not fall on Ed's line,
    and the two curves do not have a common axis.
    
    Your obs could be a third surface, or I haven't yet understood its geometry.
