The sky was rather hazy, but seemed unusually white in the northern half of the sky at 21:00 UT on April 11. I was alerted by an E-mail from Ed Ehrlich to look out for an aurora. And by 21:30 a broad auroral arc had reached an elevation of about 60 degrees in the north before it gradually faded. The colour was white except for some red low in the east. The sky clouded over later, just after a transit of 89-61D (USA 40 r) had started. I made 3 telescopic observations. The satellite was about mag +10 steady. I've derived an elset - see below. David.
