        I dont think it really matters where along the causeway you are. As you 
    said, the causeway slopes. And it does so in the same 'slope' as the pad 
    39B-->39A distance. In otherwords, the distance is almost equal. I was down 
    there last July for STS-93 
    [it was postponed:(], and had with me a 1000mm spotting scope, with 2x 
    teleconverter (A bit too much?!). There were a few trees in the distance 
    which blocked out the bottom half of Columbia. As I remember, we were close 
    to the beginning of the causeway, (West entrance), and if I moved down 100 
    yards or so, the trees shifted away.
