Sat. Number 18953, COSMOS 1933, 88020A

I sighted COSMOS 1933 this evening (April 4, 1998 7:52 pm MST (UT - 7:00))
using 10x50 binoculars under clear skies. It exhibited a periodic fluctuation
between estimated magnitudes 4 and 6, similar to what I have previously
observed. There is a bright flash lasting about 1/4 second at mag. 4 followed
by an abrupt dimming to about mag. 6, then gradual increase in brightness to
about mag. 4, then gradual decrease to mag. 6, then the cycle begins again
with
a bright flash. I timed the bright flashes with a 9 lap memory stopwatch,
times are believed to be accurate to within +- 1 second. (Time reference is a
radio controlled clock from Radio Shack.)
