Hi all,

Bjoern Gimle recently asked me the following (in a private mail) :

>Since QUICKSAT, SKYMAP, and the NASA GSFC orbital elements request
>BBS/Internet all use the NORAD number as the primary key, I would like
>most "official" communication - Flash, observations etc. to contain
>both NORAD and Int.Desig.
>It takes a lot of time to translate each time !

My answer went along these lines :

>I agree, and I'm still hoping that the Americans will come over to the
>official COSPAR-code (i.e. the one the BWGS is using), but I'm sure that
>that hope will be in vain. :-)
>Now, I will ask Tristan Cools (responsible for the BWGS program of flashing
>satellites )if he can add the NORAD number to the list of the
>program. The recent observations will then automatically contain a
>reference to the NORAD number, so that should solve that problem.
>As to you question about the observations, that is not so clear. We can't
>easily change the PPAS format, since all our software is built on the
>format. The only thing observers might want to do is to add the Norad-
>number to the remarks column. But for that to happen, we need to discuss
>this with all observers of the BWGS. I myself think that the program list
>(if it contains NORAD no's) should be enough, but if most people agree
>with you, we'll change it. I will put a call to SeeSat-L and in Flash.

So, my question to the flash observers is what you think about this
